Belfast Adult Day and Community Support Services (Bridges)

The Belfast (Waldo County) Adult Day and Community Support Services program is run by Bridges Home & Community Services, the home and community services affiliate of Spectrum Generations, Central Maine's Area Agency on Aging. It offers center-based daytime care and companionship for older, cognitively impaired adults, and serves adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the same setting. The center is a large open space with a kitchen, a patio, raised garden beds and handicap access. Reviewers describe Spectrum Generations as a helpful organization for seniors in the Waldo County area. It is licensed in Maine as an Adult Day Services Program for up to 30 participants.

The program serves a hot meal prepared in Bridges' commercial kitchens, along with physical activities, skill-building activities, socialization and community outings using an ADA-compliant van. Members help choose daily activities, and visiting programs have included Matter of Balance classes, Literacy Volunteers and musicians. Bridges notes Registered Nurse oversight, Certified Residential Medication Aides and dietician-approved meals.
