Laradon Adult Day Program

Laradon is a Denver nonprofit that has served people with intellectual and developmental disabilities since 1948, and its Adult Day Program is for adults 21 and older. The program has three areas of emphasis: support for serious and chronic medical conditions overseen by an on-site nurse; help overcoming behavioral and psychological barriers, with staff trained in behavioral intervention and positive reinforcement; and recreational, leisure and educational activities on site and in the community. Laradon also runs a school, a youth center, employment programs and residential services, so many Google reviews concern those programs; one family member writes that their brother loved the people he worked with there. It is certified by Colorado's Department of Health Care Policy and Financing (HCPF) as an adult day services provider.

Medical conditions are supported throughout the day by trained staff and overseen by an on-site trained nurse. Staff use behavioral intervention and positive reinforcement strategies to support people facing behavioral or psychological barriers. Typical activities include light exercise, current events, music, arts and crafts, games and community outings, and participants can join Laradon volunteer teams.
