Daycation for Seniors El Dorado Hills

Daycation for Seniors El Dorado Hills is a senior social day program that offers supervision, activities and companionship during the day while giving family caregivers respite. The program describes itself as dementia-friendly, with CNA-trained staff, and is a certified vendor with the Del Oro Caregiver Resource Center and the Alzheimer's Association. Families can attend on a flexible basis, without pre-scheduling days or set drop-off and pick-up times, through membership plans, and a free visit is offered. Families describe a warm, engaged atmosphere and a caring owner, and one spouse says her husband with dementia loves attending. It is licensed by the California Department of Social Services as an Adult Day Program for up to 40 participants.

Daily activities include group chair exercises, trivia and games such as Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, puzzles, reminiscing, live musical performances, and holiday and birthday celebrations. Certified Nurse Assistants help with hygiene, healthy eating and hydration, and staff can give medication reminders and support some dietary needs. Participants share social luncheons and snacks, and comfort animals visit during the month.
