AVID Behavioral Day Program

AVID Behavioral Day Program supports adults with developmental disabilities in building the skills, confidence and independence to take part in community life. It uses an Applied Behavior Analysis approach to behavior management and individualized plans based on each person's choices and goals. Training covers community integration, self-advocacy, mobility training for independent travel, independent living skills and vocational development. Families describe professional, caring staff and a clean, organized program, and one mentions friendly drivers on the transportation bus. It is licensed by the California Department of Social Services as an Adult Day Program for up to 60 participants.

The program combines positive behavior management using Applied Behavior Analysis with a functional skills curriculum. Participants practice independent living skills, learn to travel independently through mobility training, are encouraged to speak up for themselves, and can work toward job search, placement and coaching.
