Insight Memory Care Center

Insight Memory Care Center is a Northern Virginia nonprofit that has run specialized day programs for people with dementia and cognitive impairment for about 40 years. Its Fairfax Day Center groups participants into three levels of care and uses a person-centered approach built on each person's life story, strengths and interests, with quarterly care plans. Insight also offers support groups, consultations and education for care partners. Families describe kind, well-trained staff, engaging activities and strong support for caregivers. It is licensed by the Virginia Department of Social Services as an adult day care center for up to 60 participants; Insight says it holds a three-year license, the highest level in Virginia.

The Day Center offers a secure environment, structured activities, multilingual staff, health monitoring and medication management by nurses, and help with personal care including meals and incontinence care. Each participant has an individualized care plan, and the program includes physical therapy and exercise, recreational therapy across cognitive, creative, physical, social, sensory and outdoor activities, and two meals and two snacks a day. Staff can help arrange low-cost transportation.

Insight is located at 3953 Pender Dr #100, Fairfax, VA 22030, and the Day Center is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Participants attend two to five days a week on a regular schedule, and fees are monthly based on days attended and level of care, with a financial assistance fund so that no one is turned away for inability to pay.
