The Crumley House Adult Day Program

The Crumley House is a nonprofit brain injury rehabilitation center on Urbana Road in Limestone, in rural East Tennessee, serving adult survivors of traumatic and other brain injuries. Its Adult Day Program assesses each member and sets individual goals, aiming to restore functions that can be restored and to teach new ways of doing things when they cannot. Training covers physical, cognitive, computer and occupational skills and community re-entry; the center also has a separate residential program. Families describe a caring team, a home-like feel and real progress for their loved ones. It is licensed in Tennessee as an adult day services provider.

A physical training coordinator builds a plan to improve movement, reduce pain and restore function, and works side by side with each member. Cognitive trainers work on skills from basic reading, writing and math to more complex learning, and computer training uses software designed for people with traumatic brain injury to build reasoning, attention, sequencing and problem-solving. Members can also learn everyday computer skills such as using the internet and Microsoft Office, and take part in occupational training and community re-entry.
