Big Hearts Day Habilitation Center

Big Hearts Day Habilitation Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in Mansfield serving adults 18 and older with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including young adults who have finished high school and are not working or in college. The program focuses on life skills, daily living skills, social skills and functional independence, practiced both at the center and in the community. Weekend respite is also offered. A family reviewer describes compassionate, professional staff and person-centered programs that build independence and confidence. It is licensed by Texas Health and Human Services as a Day Activity and Health Services facility with Individualized Skills and Socialization for up to 45 participants.

Daily activities include arts and crafts, applied music, social skills, life skills such as cooking, housekeeping, money management and technology, and daily living skills such as hygiene, grooming and meal preparation. Each participant is assessed by a certified personal trainer for a daily exercise plan, and clients go on community outings to restaurants, libraries and museums. Respite is offered on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The center is at 400 Industrial Blvd #208, Mansfield, TX 76063, and the day program runs Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with respite on weekends from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Services are usually paid by a Medicaid waiver; private pay is $53 to $133 per day depending on need, and there is a $100 application fee.
