Oakwood Creative Care East Mesa (Red Mountain) Day Club

The East Mesa (Red Mountain) Day Club is one of several adult day clubs run by Oakwood Creative Care, a Mesa nonprofit. Located at the west entrance of the Red Mountain Multigenerational Center near Red Mountain Park, it serves adults with Alzheimer's, dementia, Parkinson's, stroke recovery, traumatic brain injury and other age-related physical or cognitive challenges, with art, music, fitness and learning activities and a newly renovated space with an art studio and a quiet room. Families describe patient staff who know how to redirect agitation and say the day gives caregivers respite and time to work; one reviewer was unhappy that a relative with dementia was asked to leave the program. It is licensed by the Arizona Department of Health Services as an Adult Day Health Care facility for up to 40 participants.

Oakwood describes its day clubs as offering Cognitive Stimulation Therapy led by certified specialists, creative arts and music, and fitness such as chair yoga, dance and gardening. Staff help with mobility, hygiene and daily tasks, a nursing team assists with health monitoring, care plans and medications, a lunch is served daily, and private showers are available on request. Caregivers can also access education, support groups and guidance.

The club is at 7550 E Adobe Rd, Mesa, AZ 85207, inside the Red Mountain Multigenerational Center. The website lists club hours of Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (Google shows 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.). Oakwood has contracts with ALTCS, the Veterans Administration and the Area Agency on Aging and offers scholarships, and transportation is available through Dial-A-Ride.
