Riverside Adult Day Services

Riverside Adult Day Services has been helping adults with physical or cognitive challenges maintain their independence since 1975. The program provides a safe, structured environment during the day with professional health monitoring, social engagement, and therapeutic activities. This offers much-needed relief for family caregivers. The services are part of Riverside Health System’s Lifelong Health and Aging-Related Services, designed to enrich the lives of aging adults and those living with chronic conditions or memory loss. The facility is state-licensed and Medicaid-approved, with a staff-to-participant ratio of 1:6. Participants can attend on a part-time or full-time basis, choosing their own schedule based on their needs and availability.

At Riverside Adult Day Services, participants receive daily health checks by a nursing team, including blood pressure monitoring and medication management. Mobility support and fall prevention are provided for those with limited physical abilities. The center offers a variety of engaging, structured activities to stimulate the body, mind, and spirit, along with social opportunities and quiet time in a cozy living room or secure outdoor patio. Hot lunch and nutritious snacks are served daily, with accommodations for special diets. Specialized memory care is available for participants with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. The program is ideal for adults who need supervision or minor assistance with personal care, can understand and follow simple directions, use a walker or wheelchair, and are comfortable in a group setting.

Riverside Adult Day Services is located at 1010 Old Denbigh Blvd, Newport News, VA 23602. The facility is open Monday–Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and one Saturday per month from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Payment options include Medicaid, and potential assistance is available through the Peninsula Agency on Aging and the Alzheimer’s Association.
