Senior TLC – Hickory (PACE@Home)

Senior TLC, formerly known as PACE@Home, is a Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly that helps seniors in Catawba, Burke, Caldwell, Alexander and Lincoln counties keep living at home. Its day center on Fairgrove Church Road offers activities, lunch with friends, and visits with doctors, therapists and social workers in one place. A coordinated team also arranges medical care, personal care, therapy and transportation. Participants describe making friends at the day center and feeling secure in their care, though one family felt the plan's limits on outside health care were restrictive. It is certified by North Carolina as an Adult Day Health program for up to 125 participants.

At the day center participants take part in a range of activities, eat lunch and meet with their doctors, therapists and social workers. Senior TLC also provides medical care, therapy and rehabilitation, personal care services, transportation and in-home help such as bathing, dressing and housekeeping, according to each person's care plan. A trial day can be scheduled.

The center is at 1915 Fairgrove Church Rd SE, Newton, NC 28658, and is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with an on-call nurse after hours, on weekends and holidays. Services are usually at no cost for seniors who qualify for Medicaid, and staff can help with financial eligibility.
