ICAN California Abilities Network – Redondo Beach

ICAN California Abilities Network is a nonprofit serving adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the South Bay and Long Beach. Its Redondo Beach location hosts the Life Skills Program, focused on social development, healthy living and community integration, as well as a mid-week Social Program. Participants help choose their own schedules from seasonal clubs such as cooking, music, fitness, art, photography, drama, technology, community garden and sign language, with a 1:3 staff-to-client ratio. Reviewers describe a community-minded organization with good people. It is licensed by the California Department of Social Services as an Adult Day Program for up to 45 participants.

The Life Skills Program balances on-site clubs with off-site community integration. Clubs include cooking, music, TV news, fitness, art, photography, drama, books, crafts, technology, community garden, games, sign language and disaster preparedness, and change seasonally with client interest. The facility has a full kitchen, large meeting rooms, a garden and outdoor space. Both ambulatory and non-ambulatory clients are accepted.

ICAN Redondo Beach is at 2761 W 190th St, Redondo Beach, CA 90278; the entrance and parking are off Amour Lane, not 190th Street. The Life Skills Program runs Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., for full- or part-time clients.
