Catholic Charities Adult Day Services – San Mateo County

Catholic Charities Adult Day Services of San Mateo (the Carl Gellert and Celia Berta Gellert program) has served San Mateo County residents since 1975. It offers a safe, supervised, therapeutic setting for seniors and adults with disabilities who have losses in physical function, memory or social support, and gives family caregivers respite during the day. The program is non-medical: staff provide personal care, supervision and help with activities of daily living alongside recreational and social activities. It meets in a bright room bordered by an enclosed courtyard, on a residential street one block from San Carlos' Laurel Street, and limits attendance to no more than 35 participants a day. It is licensed by the California Department of Social Services as an Adult Day Program for up to 40 participants.

Staff provide non-medical personal care, supervision and assistance with activities of daily living. The day includes a broad range of recreational, social and mentally and physically stimulating activities. The program serves people with memory loss as well as those with physical limitations or social isolation, and supports family caregivers.
