The Gathering Place is a social model day program in Sheboygan Falls dedicated to adults with early to mid-stage memory loss and other cognitive impairments, and it describes itself as the only adult day program in Sheboygan County with this exclusive focus. Its days are built around six elements of wellness: physical, cognitive, social, emotional, spiritual and community. Alongside it, Memory Matters offers a weekly four-hour education-based class for people with early memory loss. Reviewers describe a caring place with dedicated volunteers and arts, games, entertainment and fellowship. It is certified in Wisconsin as an Adult Day Care Center for up to 20 participants.
Services & Care
Each afternoon starts with an exercise class focused on strength and balance, using therabands, light weights, drumming, dancing and yoga. Cognitive activities include trivia, word games, cards, iPads, art, drama club and reading groups, and participants take part in community service projects and outings. Lunch is provided, and there is a non-denominational prayer and devotion each day.
