Senior Concerns Adult Day Center

Senior Concerns, a Thousand Oaks nonprofit serving seniors since 1975, runs a social-model adult day program for older adults with memory and/or physical impairments who enjoy group activities. A typical day includes social time, guided discussions, two rotating main activities such as art therapy, brain games, active games and music, chair exercise, a hot lunch and snacks. The organization also offers caregiver support groups, seminars and care consultation. Families describe compassionate staff who keep participants mentally active and engaged. It is licensed by the California Department of Social Services as an Adult Day Program for up to 75 participants.

Activities rotate daily and may include art therapy, brain games, active games and music, along with chair exercise and guided discussion. Coffee or tea, a morning snack, a hot lunch and an afternoon snack are included. Staff can hold and give medications with a physician's order; transportation is not provided, though participants may use the city's Dial-A-Ride.

Senior Concerns is at 401 Hodencamp Rd, Thousand Oaks, CA 91360. The day program runs Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; monthly fees range from $300 for one day a week to $1,500 for five days, and Medicare does not cover it.
