La Casa Bienvenida is a weekday senior day program run by the Hispanic Coalition of Greater Waterbury inside the River Baldwin Recreational Center on East Liberty Street. It serves Hispanic older adults from Waterbury and nearby towns with social, recreational and therapeutic activities, meals and help with medical and personal needs; most participants speak Spanish, but everyone is welcome. Reviewers say it is well attended, offers good recreation and is a welcome place for Spanish-speaking elders. It is listed as a member of the Connecticut Association of Adult Day Centers (CAADC); it is not a state-licensed program.
Services & Care
Transportation is provided to and from the center, and a balanced breakfast and lunch are served daily. Case management includes rides to medical appointments, help scheduling appointments, translation of documents, and help with housing or benefits applications. Activities include chair exercises, Zumba Gold, nutrition, computer and guitar classes, arts and crafts, bingo, dominoes, holiday celebrations and trips.
