CaHoots Adult Day Service – Waupaca

CaHoots Adult Day Service is a social adult day center with locations in Amherst, Waupaca and Clintonville. It serves adults 18 and older with cognitive or physical disabilities, developmental disabilities, dementia, traumatic brain injury or terminal illness, as well as frail elders. Members help plan the day, join community outings, and practice real-life skills such as meal planning, grocery shopping and light chores. This handicap-accessible location, opened in December 2014, has a large back yard used for gardening, picnics and outdoor games. A reviewer calls it a wonderful place. It is certified by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services as an Adult Day Care Center for up to 30 participants.

Staff provide daily cares and supervision while involving members in activities planned with them each month. Activities include daily crafts and art, games such as hallway bowling, darts, cards and bingo, brain teasers, walks and outings to the library, shops and local events. Members take part in meal planning, grocery shopping and meal prep, and in chores with a token-based reward store. CaHoots provides transportation to and from the center.

Private pay and most locally funded programs are accepted; contact the Waupaca County Aging and Disability Resource Center about eligibility.
