King Adult Day Enrichment Program (KADEP)

The King Adult Day Enrichment Program (KADEP) is the Rocky Mountain MS Center's community-based day program, offered as an alternative to nursing home placement for younger adults with multiple sclerosis, brain injury, stroke and other neurological conditions. An on-site registered nurse supervises care, including medication supervision, personal care and health monitoring, and on-call neurology care is available. Participants choose from dozens of weekly classes and groups, such as tai chi, gardening, adaptive dance, hydrotherapy and cooking, along with community outings and adventure recreation trips. Families describe kind, knowledgeable staff and rewarding field trips. It is certified by Colorado's Department of Health Care Policy and Financing (HCPF) as an adult day services provider.

KADEP's nursing services include medication supervision, help with personal care and continuous health monitoring focused on preventing secondary medical problems; each participant has a personal care coordinator and an individual care plan. Weekly classes change each trimester and have included gardening, tai chi, brain teasers, stress management, internet skills, batik, basic cooking, memory book making, hydrotherapy, adaptive dance and bowling. Breakfast and lunch are served daily, with special diets as needed, and the Adventure Recreation program runs camping trips and retreats that can offer overnight respite.

KADEP is at 8845 Wagner St, Westminster, CO 80031. It is open weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Most participants use Medicaid Home and Community-Based Services waiver funds for program fees and transportation; the program also accepts the Brain Injury Waiver, VA reimbursement and some private insurance, with sliding-scale fees for lower-income private payers.
