New Horizons Adult Day Services

New Horizons Adult Day Services, Inc. is a private non-profit organization established in 2008 to serve adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The program was originally operated by the Yadkin County Board of Education before transitioning to New Horizons. The primary focus is to provide a meaningful day in the most integrated setting possible, offering opportunities for socialization, exercise, and learning. New Horizons Adult Day Services offers Day Supports, a facility-based service that assists individuals with improving daily living and socialization skills. The program operates Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 2 PM, providing structured activities that adhere to principles of normalization and community integration. Staff-to-participant ratios are maintained at no more than 1:8 to ensure personalized attention. Activities are designed to help participants discover their skills and interests while fostering independence. The program also includes a thrift store where participants can engage in vocational activities, such as cleaning and refurbishing donated items for resale.
