Adult Day Health Care of Mad River

Adult Day Health Care of Mad River is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving medically at-risk adults over 18. Located on the Mad River Community Hospital campus, it provides a comprehensive range of services under one roof. The program aims to improve participants' health and quality of life while offering caregivers much-needed respite. Services are designed to help participants remain in the lowest level of care possible, avoiding unnecessary hospitalizations or institutionalization. The facility is licensed by the State of California and certified as a Medi-Cal provider. Participants can attend 1-5 days per week, Monday through Friday, for a minimum of 4 hours per day. The program includes activities like group outings, arts and crafts, games, live music, and dancing, all in a safe and stimulating environment.

Adult Day Health Care of Mad River offers a wide variety of professional services tailored to meet the needs of its participants. Rehabilitative therapy includes physical, occupational, and speech therapy, with individual and group sessions based on individual needs. Skilled nursing is provided by registered nurses who work closely with caregivers and primary physicians. Social workers assist with admissions, resources, referrals, and advocacy, including specialized groups for Veterans. Recreational activities range from arts and crafts to live music and dancing. Nutritional services include a mid-morning snack and a hot lunch, with dietary counseling available. The program also specializes in Alzheimer’s and dementia care, offering a secure environment for individuals at various stages of the condition. Transportation is available within a specified radius, covering areas like Eureka, Arcata, Blue Lake, and McKinleyville.

Adult Day Health Care of Mad River is located at 3800 Janes Rd, Arcata, CA 95521, on the Mad River Community Hospital campus. The program operates Monday through Friday, with participants arriving as early as 8:45 AM and leaving by 2:30 PM. Transportation is provided via a door-to-door van service within certain areas. The program accepts Medi-Cal, Veteran’s Administration benefits, Redwood Coast Regional Center, PACE, and private payments. Private pay costs $95 per day with a minimum of 2 days per week and a one-time start-up fee of $95. Respite services are available for $33 per hour for those not enrolled in the full program. Tours are welcome between 10 AM and 1 PM to observe the program in action. The facility is equipped with safety features like alarms in the Sun Room to address wandering issues.
