TVS Life Skills Adult Day Program

Life Skills is a day program run by TVS, a Brevard nonprofit that combines manufacturing and packaging work with support services for people with disabilities. The program is for qualifying adults with physical or intellectual and developmental disabilities who are aging, retired or have complex needs, and participants take part in activities at their own pace in a relaxed setting. It focuses on leisure, daily living skills, community engagement, recreation and self-advocacy, and TVS day program participants volunteer at more than 30 community locations. A family member quoted on the TVS site says the program helped his brother do things he could not do before. It is certified by North Carolina as an Adult Day Care program serving adults with developmental disabilities, for up to 21 participants.

Life Skills offers individual enrichment through leisure activities, daily living skills practice, community engagement, recreation and self-advocacy. Participants go at their own pace, and the day program includes volunteering at local sites. Caregivers can talk with the program director about state-supported funding and what fits each person's needs.

The program is based at TVS, 15 Burrell Ave, Brevard, NC 28712, and Google lists hours as Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. It serves qualifying adults 18 and older, and parents or caregivers are encouraged to talk with the program director about eligibility and state-supported funding.
