Little Red Hen Artisan Day Program

Little Red Hen is a Chico nonprofit that runs day programs for adults with developmental disabilities, funded in part by its thrift and gift stores. Its Artisan day program, the Creative Art Center, is a hands-on arts program where participants explore ceramics, painting, mixed media, theater, photography, art gallery operations and entrepreneurship. Using a person-centered approach, it also builds life skills, confidence, independence and community connection. It is licensed by the California Department of Social Services as an Adult Day Program for up to 35 participants.

Participants work in ceramics, painting, mixed media, theater and photography, and learn about art gallery operations and entrepreneurship, alongside life skills. Little Red Hen publishes a monthly schedule of Creative Art Center activities. It also runs Park & Garden, Kitchen and Lab day programs and a HAB employment development program.
