Life Works Community

Life Works Community is dedicated to helping adults with disabilities achieve personal independence through structured programs in life skills, vocational training, and community engagement. The program is divided into three key areas: Life, Works, and Community, each designed to address different aspects of personal development. Participants can engage in activities such as bowling, attending movies, shopping, and swimming, while also contributing to the community through volunteer work. The program's holistic approach ensures that clients receive the guidance and support they need to thrive in various aspects of their lives.

Life Works Community provides a wide range of services aimed at fostering independence and skill development. The Life component focuses on daily living skills, including meal planning, food preparation, and healthy exercise. The Works component offers job coaching and skill set training, with some clients participating in the LWC Merchandise Program. The Community component enhances socialization through activities like bowling, movies, and swimming, as well as volunteer opportunities such as the Denton Great American Clean-Up. Additional classes cover laundry, housekeeping, and personal safety skills, ensuring a well-rounded approach to personal development.

The program follows the Denton Independent School District's inclement weather policy, closing when schools are closed due to weather. Clients are responsible for canceling any scheduled rides with SPAN or DCTA if the program is closed. The program observes major holidays, including Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, and Independence Day.
