Gregory & Friends

Gregory & Friends is a small adult day support program in Dumfries, Prince William County, founded by Antonia Akwule. It serves adults with autism, including people who are non-verbal, and other intellectual and developmental disabilities, mostly those who have aged out of the school system. Activities follow each participant's Individual Service Plan and interests, from arts and crafts and computer time to life-skills training and community outings. The team includes certified nursing aides and a part-time clinician experienced with the medical and behavioral needs of adults with disabilities. It is licensed by the Virginia Department of Social Services as an adult day care center for up to 15 participants.

Activities include watercolor painting and crafts, puzzles and cognitive skill-building, money and life-skills practice with an in-house cash register, an interactive geography map, a computer lab, music sessions, and outings such as picnics and museum trips. The program also supports employment skill development for those seeking work. Trained staff provide behavioral support and crisis management, and the team includes certified nursing aides and a part-time clinician.
