MedxSunshine Adult Day Care

MedxSunshine Adult Day Care has been part of Houston's senior community since 1999 and describes itself as one of the city's earliest and largest senior activity centers. The center, recently renovated with new furniture, offers supervised care, social activities and planned programs for eligible older adults in a warm, home-like setting, with information in English and Chinese. Families describe a spacious, clean center with plenty of activities. It is licensed by Texas Health and Human Services as a Day Activity and Health Services (DAHS) facility, including individualized skills and socialization, for up to 280 participants, and it also runs a special needs program.

MedxSunshine provides supervised day care and health services, with breakfast, lunch and snacks prepared to meet dietary preferences and restrictions and follow USDA calorie guidelines. Activities include choir sessions with familiar songs, discussion groups, exercise classes for different fitness levels (gentle yoga, chair exercises and dancing) and intellectually stimulating activities that support memory and thinking skills. The center also hosts community events and has a special needs program.

MedxSunshine is at 6501 Westline Dr, Houston, TX 77036, and is open Monday to Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Medicaid holders can join the program for free; charges for other insurance depend on the policy.
