Dreams of America

Dreams of America is a day program for adults with developmental disabilities, serving Regional Center clients and private students. The program focuses on building independence and job-related skills through volunteer work, classes and community outings, with a stated staffing ratio of 1:4. Each participant has an Individual Support Plan with personal goals that is reviewed at least yearly with input from families. Reviewers, including a Meals on Wheels program it volunteers with, describe friendly staff and a bright, positive setting, and some mention money management and social skills. It is licensed by the California Department of Social Services as an Adult Day Program for up to 140 participants.

Activities include music classes, physical exercise, safety awareness, field trips, volunteer work at places like churches and food banks, job and vocational training, money management, simple reading and writing, basic computer skills, and arts and crafts. Participants also practice community skills by eating out and through recreation such as bowling and miniature golf. The program works with local businesses to help participants find jobs, supported employment or volunteer roles.

Dreams of America is at 14A Goodyear #110, Irvine, CA 92618, with additional Irvine sites. It is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. It is a Regional Center vendor and also accepts private-pay students.
