Abilities Unlimited

Abilities Unlimited is a day program in Lake Forest for adults with developmental disabilities, with a second learning center in Fountain Valley. Its curriculum, developed by credentialed special education teachers and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, is built on individualized support plans and community-based instruction. Programs cover independent living skills, social skills and a three-stage path toward competitive integrated employment. Many families describe caring staff and a family feel, though some reviews raise concerns about accessibility for wheelchair users and about management at the Fountain Valley site. It is licensed by the California Department of Social Services as an Adult Day Program for up to 110 participants.

Each participant starts with a 30-day assessment and an individualized support plan. Training covers health and nutrition, personal finance, travel safety, self-care, shopping and social skills, plus classroom workshops, volunteer internships and support toward paid employment. The center has an art room, gym and mobility equipment, life-skills room, computer lab, kitchenette for cooking classes and a library.
