Nick's Community is a community integration training program for adults 18 and older with developmental disabilities who are regional center clients with a current Individual Program Plan. The program serves people with behavior challenges as well as those with limited communication, and staff are Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certified. Each participant has a person-centered plan focused on socialization, vocational, adaptive and life skills in community settings. Services are funded through California regional centers. It is licensed by the California Department of Social Services as an Adult Day Program for up to 60 participants.
Services & Care
Training covers employment and volunteer placement, menu planning, meal preparation, cooking and cleaning, self-care and hygiene, and safety in the community. Participants learn to use public transportation or Access paratransit, and the program provides transportation when needed. Self-advocacy and rights training, peer relationships and participant choice in activities and staff are part of the program.
