Social Vocational Services – Whittier

Social Vocational Services (SVS) is a California provider with dozens of program sites for adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities, and Whittier is one of them. Its Community Inclusion adult day services focus on independence, self-advocacy, community integration, career exploration and socialization, with staff helping each person build a schedule around their interests. Most activities take place in the local community, with the facility used for day program activities when appropriate. Reviews are mixed: one describes polite staff, while another reports serious concerns about how the company handled an abuse allegation involving a staff member. It is licensed by the California Department of Social Services as an Adult Day Program for up to 75 participants.

Popular activities include arts, cooking, computer technology, gardening, work experience, volunteer activities, physical fitness, music, self-advocacy, health and well-being, and recreation. SVS also offers career exploration with paid work experience, supported employment, and supported and independent living services.
