PathPoint Kern County Day Program

PathPoint, a California nonprofit founded in 1964, has supported people with developmental disabilities in Kern County since 2007 from its Bakersfield location. Its day services include Life Skills Plus, a community integration program for adults with social or behavioral support needs, and Integrated Work, where people volunteer or train in community jobs in small groups. The City of Bakersfield named PathPoint its Outstanding Volunteer of the Year in 2018 for community improvement work done by Life Skills Plus participants. Reviewers who attend say they learn a lot, while one reviewer raises concerns about groups walking outdoors in high heat. It is licensed by the California Department of Social Services as an Adult Day Program for up to 60 participants.

Life Skills Plus focuses on meaningful interaction and community integration for people with social or behavioral support needs, and Integrated Work lets participants explore vocational interests through volunteering or community job training in small groups. The Kern office also offers supported employment, paid internships and work experience, Project SEARCH, transition services for students, and independent living services.
