Lamorinda Adult Respite Center (LARC) is a licensed, supervised social adult day program in Orinda serving people with memory loss due to mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease or related dementias. It has operated since 1997 and is designed to give participants a warm, engaging day while giving family caregivers time for errands and self-care. Families describe caring, engaged staff and a program that gives caregivers a few hours' break. It is licensed by the California Department of Social Services as an Adult Day Program for up to 35 participants.
Services & Care
The daily schedule includes coffee and snacks, sensory and cognitive group activities, chair exercise, lunch and conversation, and live music from visiting musicians. Other activities include arts and crafts, gardening, games and pet therapy visits. Participants bring a bag lunch that staff plate and serve; snacks and beverages are provided. Caregivers can join a weekly support group and get education, resources and problem-solving help.
