Las Trampas is a Lafayette nonprofit that serves people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and its adult day program runs five days a week for six hours a day. Participants choose their own classes, much like a junior college, from options such as art, health and wellness, life skills, music and movement, advocacy and volunteering, and occupational skills, with learning in both classrooms and the community. The program is built on person-centered planning and aims to build independence, skills and relationships. Families describe welcoming staff and practical, hands-on programs. It is licensed by the California Department of Social Services as an Adult Day Program for up to 120 participants.
Services & Care
Participants pick classes such as Art, Health & Wellness, Life Skills, Adventurers, Explorers, Advocacy/Volunteers & Occupations, and Music & Movement. Learning happens both on site and in the community, with volunteer and pre-vocational opportunities and an exercise and diet curriculum. The building has push-button doors, elevators, ADA ramps, changing rooms for adult hygiene and acoustically designed quiet spaces for people with sensory sensitivities.
