Plumas Rural Services A.L.I.V.E. Program

A.L.I.V.E. (Adults for Learning and growing, Integration in the community, Vocations of choice, Enthusiasm for life) is a program of Plumas Rural Services, a Quincy nonprofit founded in 1980. It provides training and support for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, helping participants hold paying jobs, use community resources, build independent living skills and develop self-advocacy. Its day service program offers group classes at the site or in the community. It is licensed by the California Department of Social Services as an Adult Day Program for up to 30 participants.

The day service program offers group classes on self-advocacy, health and exercise, bike and pedestrian safety, public transit and housing search, plus volunteer activities, recreational outings and trips to the library, banks, college and local stores. A.L.I.V.E. also offers job assessment, job applications and on-the-job training, and one-on-one independent living support.
