Active Day of Mahoning

Active Day of Mahoning is part of Active Day, a provider of adult day health services with centers in several states. The Youngstown center offers full-day adult day services in a stimulating, active environment, with staff who provide on-site medical assistance and coordinate care with each participant's healthcare professionals. It also runs a specialized program for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, covering engaging activities, independent living skills, work support and job placement, and Active Day offers in-home care through personal care aides. The center director is Amanda Wendel.

Adult day participants get a full day of activities with on-site medical assistance and care coordinated with their healthcare providers, plus support with activities of daily living. The center provides transportation, including non-emergency medical transport. For adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, the IDD program offers community-based activities, community integration, independent living skill development, pre-vocational and career exploration, work support and job placement. Active Day also offers in-home personal care, homemaking and help with daily activities.

Active Day of Mahoning is at 153 Javit Court, Youngstown, OH 44515, and is open Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The building has wheelchair-accessible parking and entrance. Families can contact the center's Family Care Advisor to schedule a tour and a free trial day, and staff help complete the paperwork and medical forms needed to secure funding.
