Easterseals of Northeast Ohio Adult Day Center

Easterseals of Northeast Ohio is a nonprofit serving children and adults of all abilities across Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties, and its Adult Day Center at the main office on Edwards Street in Youngstown is a program for seniors with chronic conditions or age-related challenges. Participants stay active and social, which helps reduce isolation and loneliness, while a skilled nursing staff looks after their care, and family caregivers get a regular break. The adult day program is accredited by CARF, an independent body that reviews the quality of health and human services. Easterseals suggests considering adult day care when an older loved one struggles to structure the day, feels isolated, has anxiety or depression, needs help managing a chronic disease or is in the early stages of dementia.

Each participant receives an individualized assessment and service plan and is supervised by trained medical professionals. Services include nursing care, medication administration, assistance with self-care and bathing, and on-site occupational and speech therapy. Lunch and snacks are served daily, and the center publishes an activity calendar of daily activities, community trips and respite activities. Transportation is available.

The Adult Day Center is at the Easterseals of Northeast Ohio main office, 299 Edwards Street, Youngstown, OH 44502, and is open Tuesday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The building has wheelchair-accessible parking and entrance.
