Friendship House is an Alzheimer's and dementia care community of small cottage homes in the Santa Ynez Valley, and its Life Enrichment Day Program serves people with memory loss who still live at home. Staff lead planned activities such as music and art in a safe, supervised setting, giving family caregivers time to work or rest. Friendship House follows the Eden Alternative philosophy of person-centered care and also hosts a monthly Alzheimer's Association caregiver support group. Families describe warm, welcoming staff and a home-like feel. It is licensed by the California Department of Social Services as an Adult Day Program for up to 15 participants.
