Devereux California Adult Day Program

Devereux California, part of the nonprofit Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health, runs an Adult Day Program in Goleta for adults with intellectual, emotional and/or physical disabilities. The program is open to people enrolled in Devereux's other services and to interested adults from the surrounding community. It combines behavior management programming, pre-vocational training and social and educational activities, with individualized schedules and goals for each participant. A long-running greenhouse program gives participants job and customer service training and hands-on gardening experience. It is licensed by the California Department of Social Services as an Adult Day Program for up to 60 participants.

Participants build skills in daily living, communication, problem-solving, sensory integration, work and creative arts, and learn coping and behavior management strategies. Activities include music lessons, volunteer work, computer skills, cooking classes, fitness and daily trips to community events. In the greenhouse, participants grow succulents, herbs, vegetables and decorative plants.
