Excel at Hattie Larlham Westerville

Excel is the adult day support program of Hattie Larlham, a nonprofit that serves people with intellectual and developmental disabilities across Northeast and Central Ohio; the Westerville site on Brooksedge Plaza Drive is its only Central Ohio location among seven. The program is organized around four ideas: explore, connect, engage and learn. Participants visit arts and culture venues, fitness and recreation centers, shops, restaurants, parks and sporting events, build relationships with peers and community members, and volunteer in the community. Each day also includes chances to learn, from hobbies and daily living skills to current events and educational activities. For evening and weekend social activities, Hattie Larlham also runs Franklin County Recreation.

Participants explore the community on trips to arts and culture venues, fitness and recreation centers, shopping and dining spots, parks and sporting events. Engagement includes volunteering with local organizations, hosting collection drives, making and delivering treats to first responders, and meeting community leaders. Daily learning covers new hobbies, daily living skills, current events and other educational activities.
