Open Arms, founded in 2011, supports people with developmental disabilities and other barriers to live dignified, independent lives, with offices in Columbus, Mansfield and Marion. Its Columbus headquarters on Freeway Drive North offers home and community-based services that include a day program, vocational training, group employment and non-medical transportation. In the day program, participants plan their own activities and events and staff help make them happen, while also supporting goals, life skills and community connections. Reviewers describe friendly, compassionate staff and a place full of activity, fun and work, and several say it helps people prepare for jobs in the community.
Services & Care
The day program centers on activities and events that participants plan themselves, with staff support for personal goals, life skills and community connections. For people interested in work, Open Arms provides entry-level paid work experiences aimed at competitive integrated employment, and paid small-group vocational training at community businesses. Non-medical transportation is available to employment, day services and community activities.
