The Centers for Habilitation (TCH) Day Program

The Centers for Habilitation (TCH) is a Tempe nonprofit that supports adults with developmental and physical disabilities, and its day program provides daily social, recreational and educational opportunities on the Tempe campus at Lodge Drive. The program helps adults build life skills, explore interests and get out into the community, making parks, shopping centers, zoos and other attractions more approachable. Volunteering is a major part of the day: participants and staff work in volunteer enclaves on campus and off site, and TCH runs the Unique Boutique. TCH also offers group homes, home-based services, employment services and transportation. Families in reviews describe a welcoming place and long-term support, and one reviewer was told the DTA program could not take on more people needing one-on-one support at the time, so ask about current openings if your family member needs 1:1 staffing.

TCH's day program combines social, recreational and educational activities with life-skill building and regular community outings to places such as parks, shopping centers and zoos. Participants help choose activities that interest them, and volunteering in enclaves on the Tempe campus and in the community is a central part of the program. TCH operates a large fleet of accessible vehicles and logs more than 75,000 trips a year for the people it supports.
