LEAF (Life Enrichment and Fulfillment) is the Day Treatment and Training for Adults (DTA) program of The Opportunity Tree, a Phoenix nonprofit founded in 1963 that supports people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The program is offered at the central Phoenix campus on Windsor Avenue as well as in Casa Grande and Maricopa. LEAF focuses on independence, self-confidence, social connection and taking part in local community life, with goals set around each member's own objectives, and it includes a Supported (Creative) Aging component for older members. Reviewers describe attentive, caring and high-energy staff and well-attended events such as a holiday party for clients and families. The Opportunity Tree also runs the SEEDS supported employment program, a teen program and community group homes.
Services & Care
Members take part in creative, social, recreational and habilitative activities, including community outings and adventures chosen by members, immersion experiences, cooking classes and art-based programming. Structured social skills training and programming that encourages healthy habits are part of the day, and the Creative Aging component supports members as they get older.
